Training “Pitch your professional brand”

This training session was offered to all UPtoPARIS fellows from the 2nd and 3rd call. Last year, the fellows from the 1st call also attended this training organized by the ABG.

Due to covid-19 restrictions, the event happened online via the video conference and lasted for a day and a half.

Besides, the aim was to prepare and market their professional identity as well as their research projects by communicating their career goals and past experiences to the jury members. The idea was also to present their project in a very accessible and compressible way to everyone.

It was also a good opportunity for the fellow researchers at the end of their PhD to develop a network outside the academic world.

During the first day of the training, on the 12th of April 2022, 8 fellows from each call had an occasion to prepare and to train their pitches.

During the second day, the members of the jury from Michelin and LafargeHolcim presented their professional backgrounds and companies they are working for.
Finally, all fellows from the 2nd call presented their pitches in front of all the group and also received a feedback from the members of the jury.

During the afternoon session, three members of the jury from Saint-Gobain Research, Solvay and LafargeHolcim dedicated their time to listen to the pitches.

It was interesting to listen to their professional experiences and how they got to where they are now.

In the same way as the morning session, the fellows from the 3rd call also had an occasion to present their pitches and to receive feedback from experienced members of the jury.

The companies that were presented on the 13th of April 2022 are also industrial partners of the UPtoPARIS programme and their companies co-finance the project.

The jury members appreciated the fellows’ pitches and they received a good feedback. The fellows had an opportunity to network at the end of the training and to ask about the career possibilities or the recruitment procedures in their companies.

On behalf of the UPtoPARIS management team, we would like to thank ABG and particularly Melike Riollet and Kristina Berkut for the enriching and fulfilling experiences of fellows’ training programme.
